I've been looking all day trying to find some really great info visualization sites, and I think I was pretty successful.
A themeless collection of gorgeous interactive vizualizations, Chart Porn has a number of interesting dataviz examples from nationwide biking/running heat maps to static infographics about proper presentation skills.
Info is Beautiful, as implied by the title, indeed makes information beautiful. The site is gorgeously minimal with little text and incredible interactive and static vizualizations.
GE even has a site for the companies dataviz projects, namely the "Health Infoscape", which, while not the prettiest thing in the world, definitely has some powerful animations facilitating it. And finally, my personal favorite....dah dah dah daaaaahhhh!!
Greatist is an amazing engine of health information and graphics. Not only is it beautifully designed/photographed and incredibly compatible with social media, but the information is wonderful as well. I presented in an engaging and motivational way, making me not only want to do the things its suggesting, but also keep browsing to find even more tips. While its not the most conventional example of data vizualization, it does do just that in a variety of compelling ways.
There's thousands of great examples out there, and there is no way I'm going to stumble onto the best ones in a day, but I just wanted to start making note of the good ones I found along the way. With all of the crazy wearable sensing technologies and massive data collection efforts, the growth of the data vizualization field is imperative. After all, there isn't much point in collecting all of this rich information if no one can effectively read it!
